Ermal Onuzi

A few months ago, Ermal Onuzi was appointed head of the Republican Guard , in a highly debated process.

In fact, the Republican Guard law was changed for Onuz's appointment, while there were also accusations that he was "the cousin of an oligarch."

The position of head of the Republican Guard is known as one of the most "privileged" in the security system, where everyone seeks it.

Former director Gramos Sako, in his early days, was just a soldier, but over the years he transformed into a businessman, as the family firm won tenders from politicians whom Gramos protected.

Meanwhile, the new director Ermal Onuzi has begun fulfilling the whims of politicians, initially creating convenience for himself to later attempt the "role" of Sako. But, how far he will succeed, we will leave that to time!

Facsimile: Onuzi was a "spy" in the SHIU and SHISH. He also worked as an airport guard

Onuzi is known for his cunning in the service, having previously been an army officer and in 2005 he was appointed to the Army Intelligence Service. He played the role of "spy" in the army until 2009, after which he was transferred as a "spy" to the State Intelligence Service, where he served in various duties.

He worked at SHISH for 13 years, and in 2022 he was appointed Deputy Director General of the Defense Intelligence and Security Agency.

"Then, for about a year, he worked in the private sector, holding the position of Operational Director of the Company 'S2 Secure Albania', with responsibility for preparing security policies, protocols and procedures related to airport security," his resume states.

The private company is headquartered in the USA, while the "owner" on paper is an American named Jonathan Joy Flaming, born in 1966. The administrator is Mr. Ilirjan Zylyftari, the former director of the Tirana Police.

It seems that Onuzi is a "spy" with several licenses, which he has already put into service to protect the "fathers" of the nation.

His past work and connections have led Onuz to dubiously "earn" the position of Director of the Republican Guard.

And, a few months after being appointed to this position, he opened a tender for the purchase of transportation vehicles for the Republican Guard.

VoxNews has analyzed the documents of this procedure, which shows that the limit fund for purchasing cars is 80 million new lek or 806 thousand euros excluding VAT.

But, if you add VAT, the amount approaches the frightening figure of 1 million euros.

But how many cars will be bought with this money?

The documents state that the first lot is an SUV vehicle for the PLSH security directorate, with a limit fund of 96 thousand euros.

The second lot is the purchase of a 4X4 vehicle (S1) for escorts of PLSH escort groups with a limit fund of 211 thousand euros and the third lot is a 4X4 vehicle for escorts of PLSH escort groups with a limit fund of 498 thousand euros excluding VAT.

So, only 3 cars! One worth 96 thousand euros, the other 211 thousand and the last one a full half a million euros!

Given the object and value, the vehicles must be armored, although the Guard of the Republic does not provide additional information since it is a security tender. However, buying an armored vehicle for 500 thousand euros has not been seen in Albania to date.

Based on the limited data published, VoxNews is asking the Republican Guard some public questions;

1. Who will use these tools?

2. What vehicle will be purchased in lot 3, worth 498 thousand euros?

3. What vehicle will be purchased in the first and second lots?

4. Are they armored vehicles?

5. What additional security measures has the Guard taken for heads of state?
