At the Tirana Courthouse, 63 protesters come out to familiarize themselves with the security measures. They were arrested after violent acts in the protests that have swept the country over the past 4 days, where they have attacked institutions and officials with stones and Molotov cocktails.
They are charged with several criminal offenses, from "Strike due to duty", "Disturbance of public order and peace", "Violation of rules on explosives and flammable substances" to "Robbery of banks and savings banks", "Destruction of property", "Destruction of property by fire", "Opposition of a public order officer" and "Unlicensed production, possession, purchase or sale of cold weapons".
Just the day before, 18 protesters appeared in court for security measures, one of whom was remanded in prison, 6 under house arrest, and 11 under mandatory reporting.
The destruction of public and private property, state institutions, and violence against police officers during the protests in the first three days in Tirana and on Thursday in several districts, have led to the arrest of 152 people and the criminal prosecution of 324 other citizens while they are at large.
