The Mayor of Malesia e Madhe, Catholic Tonin Marinaj , has ordered a tender for iftar catering.
A use of religion in politics, more precisely in the campaign for the May 11 elections.
The scheme commonly used throughout Albania seems to have found application in Malësia e Madhe, the majority of whose inhabitants are Catholic.
Marinaj aims to get votes from Muslims as well, by trying to host iftars. But, not with the municipality's money! Why doesn't Marinaj host iftars with his own money?
He is a businessman and has owned bars and restaurants. Knowing very well the importance of lunches and dinners, Marinaj wants to fill people's minds with elections and voting.
