Gentian Gjyli, the director of the Albanian Road Authority, has set a new criterion; 5 million euros just for the reconstruction of 1 kilometer of road. A huge inflated cost, which after "flying" in tunnels, mountains or even flat areas, has started to "inflate" for the repair as well.

According to documents available to the VoxNews editorial team, the Albanian Road Administration has opened a tender with the object of "construction of connecting roads to the Llogari Tunnel". But, look at the value; 506 million lek or 5.1 million euros. And, with this money, how many roads will be repaired?

Announcement issued by the Albanian Regional Traffic Authority for the connecting roads of the Llogara Tunnel

According to the documents, the road will only be built for 10 months, while it is said that with this money, only 1 kilometer and 10 meters of road will be built. It will not be built from scratch, but will only be repaired.

The accompanying documents state that "the road segment 'Connecting Road to the Llogara Tunnel (Palasë)' begins after the exit of the Llogara Tunnel, about 1 km away, then continues on the existing road for another kilometer. The existing intersection that connects the new Palasa-Dhermi road with the old axis will be designed as a roundabout. From this roundabout to the already built roundabout, there are 600 meters of completely new track," the documents state.

The ARRSH writes that the facility's footprint consists of two road axes. The area in which the facility is located is markedly mountainous.

The authority writes that the investment aims to rehabilitate the existing route, from the exit of the Palasa tunnel, to the existing intersection of the new road with the old road.

"Location and existing condition. The Orikum-Dukat Palasa Tunnel project ends about 1 km after the tunnel exit. Where this project ends will be the starting point for the project under study. From this point, the existing road will be rehabilitated, in accordance with the project to which it is connected. This segment will continue on the route of the existing road, which has a width of about 6 m, to the intersection of the old road with the coastal road," the documents state.

The entire length of the road to be rehabilitated is 1010 linear meters with a value of 5.1 million euros.

Gjyli writes that the existing road from the exit of the Llogara tunnel to the coastal road junction needs to be asphalted
, making possible improvements. The length of the entire segment is 1010 ml, or 1 kilometer and 10 meters.

So, for a road about 1 kilometer long, the Road Authority will spend a full 5.1 million euros. Even if it were to build it from scratch, it still wouldn't have this cost. But, the criteria and the inflated costs brought this value, which can be commonly used in other access rehabilitations.
