It has been two years since Claudio Myrtaj was found dead in a garage in Vernante, Italy.

The 34-year-old Albanian, who had been living in Italy for years, was well-known in the small village in Val Vermenagna and his death caused a lot of reactions.

Initially, there was talk of a murder, and the possibility of a drug-related crime or a crime of passion was not ruled out.

But for the Prosecution, which requested the closure of the case, Claudio's action was suicide.

Italian media reports today that the Myrtaj family has been opposing this reconstruction for two years and the preliminary investigation judge has not yet given his final word. He may order the prosecutor to conduct further investigations or confirm the closure of the case.

It was the afternoon of Saturday, November 4, 2023, when the dead body of the young Albanian was found in the carpentry workshop in the city of Pinocchio murals, on Via Umberto Primo, a few steps from the City Hall. He died a few hours later in the Cuneo hospital.

The autopsy showed that he had a gunshot wound to the abdomen, from a .22 caliber pistol.

In these two years, despite the prosecutor's request to close the case and thus rule out the possibility of murder, the 34-year-old's family, as well as his girlfriend, do not accept this lead.

No one believes that Claudio, who is remembered by everyone as a humorous man who loved life, kind and hardworking, decided to end everything. The reason? That .22 caliber pistol was not immediately found at the scene.

"It would be the only case of suicide in which a weapon was not found," claims lawyer Alessandro Parola, the lawyer representing the victim's ex-partner.

And in fact, that gun was found just a few days later, in a drawer in an elderly man's workshop, where Claudio worked from time to time.

However, the elderly craftsman never reported possessing the weapon, but after the situation, he was forced to admit that 'yes, I had a weapon'.

However, something is wrong for both Parola and Federico Freni, who, representing the Myrtaj family, filed an objection to the Cuneo Prosecutor's Office's request to dismiss the case, which ruled out the murder hypothesis.

So, what is certain is that the weapon was moved. But why? And by whom? ask the lawyers, Italian media write.

The prosecution's hypothesis is that whoever moved him was afraid. They were afraid of being investigated for murder. They were afraid of the possible consequences. But again, no arrest warrants or restraining orders have ever been issued and no one is under investigation for Claudio's death.

However, lawyers believe that whoever moved him had a motive, and that motive could be directly linked to his murder.

Putting it back in the drawer a few days later would have been a way to deceive investigators and make it look like suicide.

Meanwhile, the family continues the 'fight' with the authorities to get to the bottom of this story, and to discover the truth about their son's mysterious death. /Tch
