A bodybuilding competition in Britain has turned into a tragedy, after athlete Mateusz Chmura collapsed on stage during the PCA finals on Sunday and died in hospital.

The incident occurred just one day before his 34th birthday.

Chmura, from Wakefield, received first aid at the scene in an incident described as extremely painful. He was then airlifted to hospital, where he was later confirmed dead.

The cause of the athlete's death remains unknown. The British Physical Culture Association announced his passing, expressing "deep sadness" at the loss.

The PCA competition was Chmura's second competition. Just two weeks earlier, he had placed second in his first bodybuilding competition.

The athlete's death has also shocked his family. Chmura had married his wife, Patricia, just two months before the tragic event.

Meanwhile, Patricia has publicly responded to an alleged online fundraising campaign in her husband's name. She clarified that she had not authorized anyone to raise money for her or the family.

"I have not authorized anyone to raise money in my name or that of my family," she wrote in an Instagram post, warning people to be wary of such initiatives.

She added that she wouldn't want anyone to lose their hard-earned money, thinking they were helping their family through this difficult time.
