The Juvenile Court in Italy sentenced to 17 years in prison the teenager who caused the death of 13-year-old Albanian girl, Aurora Tila, who lost her life after being pushed from the balcony of the apartment where she lived with her mother.
In an interview with tch , her mother, Morena Corbellini , spoke about the pain that accompanies her every day and how she received the court's decision. She said that, although the punishment is maximum for the perpetrator, nothing can ease the void of losing her daughter.
Corbellini remembered Aurora as a quiet, shy and sweet girl, passionate about traveling and with the dream of becoming a psychologist.
She emphasized that the girl had no romantic relationship with the perpetrator, but simply knew him as a friend.
Corbellini adds that he had long thought that she had forbidden Aurora from dating the young man who took her life, as she knew he was a person who should not be associated with, further confessing that she will create an association to help parents and young people, which she will call "Aurora's Light."
" Let's clarify one thing: Aurora was not in a romantic relationship, she was only 13 years old, so it was about something little more than a friendship.
The fact that the journalists presented him as her boyfriend, because that sounded more sensational, does not match either my words or reality. However, yes, I was aware of this sympathy.
I welcomed the court's decision positively from a legal perspective, but as a mother I will never be completely satisfied, because nothing will bring Aurora back to me. He is still alive, he can laugh, joke and think about a future after serving his sentence, my daughter has been reduced to ashes by his hand.
I repeat, from a legal perspective and for the type of process, this is almost the maximum that could be given, but for me it is not fair, there is not a sufficient punishment for whoever killed my daughter.
If Aurora could hear me today, she would understand why I hated that boy so much. I didn't trust him, I didn't want him to meet him, I had even forbidden him. I don't know why, but my instinct told me that he wasn't a person to be around.
"I hope that no more parents have to go through what I am going through. Life without a child is no longer life, so I will create an association in her memory, to help young people and parents. It will be called "The Light of Aurora" (La Luce di Aurora) ," she said.
