The Supreme Court has rejected the appeal of former MP Ervin Salianji against the 1-year prison sentence by the Court of Appeals in the "Babale" case. Ervin Salianji requested release, but with the rejection of the appeal, he remains in prison.

On October 15, 2024, the Supreme Court rejected Salijanj's request for the suspension of the 1-year prison sentence by the Appeals Court.

Ervin Salianji was convicted by the Court of Appeal for false reporting, after in 2018 he published materials presented as audio recordings, through which he claimed that the brother of the then Minister of Interior, Fatmir Xhafaj, was involved in drug trafficking. However, the investigation revealed that it was all fabricated material, and the conversation with the false witnesses was entirely simulated to incriminate the former minister's brother.
