Prime Minister Edi Rama appeared before the public on Friday with a criminal file constructed to prove that among the violent protesters there were not students, but people with priors involved in drugs, theft, violence and other criminal offenses.
Rama did not present the information as rumors. On the contrary, he declared that it was time for his claims to be supported with “ facts and documents ,” while the screen displayed photographs, initials, ages and criminal records of dozens of people escorted during the protests.
But, just a few hours later, two of the cases publicly used by the prime minister were unmasked, calling Rama's speech into question.
One of the people introduced by Rama was a 20-year-old with the initials JS.
In the material presented by the prime minister, he was described as “not a student” and with a record of “production and sale of narcotics.” A little later, the young man appeared publicly from the protest.
He identified himself as Jon Sinoymeri and stated that he is a student at the University of Medicine. He also showed his university results in front of the cameras, claiming to have a 10.0 average.
Sinoymer said that the only time he was escorted to the police station was after participating in a protest, where he was held for about seven and a half hours and then released.
The other case is that of Ergys Llanaj . Rama included him among the people listed as having criminal records.
But Adriatik Lapaj published a completely different version of the story. According to him, Llanaj had been arrested earlier, but the court had declared the arrest illegal and then dismissed the proceedings with the argument that the criminal fact did not exist.
Lapaj also described Llanaj as a former soldier with 18 years of commitment, a doctor of science, and a person equipped with NATO security certificates over the years.
But who prepared this dossier with incorrect information for Rama?
Vox News has identified 2-3 people who have prepared the file on Rama. They are officials within the Prime Minister's cabinet, who have compiled this criminal file in cooperation with law enforcement structures. Sources for Vox News indicate that Rama has shaken up his close cabinet for this erroneous information and so far, no one has accepted the trap set against the Prime Minister.
Because Rama was not having a private conversation where you could say some gossip, but he appeared in front of hundreds of thousands of Albanians, presenting what he said were facts.
Sali Berisha often does something like this, where the digital citizen is full of inaccuracies, tendentious information, malicious manipulations, etc. But Berisha does not have the state verification capacities that Edi Rama has.
These do not automatically prove that the entire list of the prime minister is wrong. Many of the other people may actually have documented convictions or proceedings. But these two cases publicly refute Rama's entire speech. And if you see, no one deals with the rest of the list, but only with the two cases where Rama was wrong.
Now it is the responsibility of the Prime Minister's Office to clarify the origin of the information.
Because if someone within the state apparatus is putting unverified materials in front of Edi Rama, that person is ensnaring the prime minister himself, completely damaging his image, at a time of protests demanding his resignation.
