Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj has arrived at the Special Court against Crime and Corruption, where an Appeals hearing will be held today on his appeal against the security measure "prison arrest".
The hearing for Veliaj will start at 10:00.
Judge Engert Pëllumbi will preside over the Special Appeals Session. He is known as the judge who sentenced former Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri to prison.
In the Appeal, Veliaj opposes the "prison arrest" measure ordered by the First Instance Court following suspicions raised by SPAK against him for involvement in "corruption" and "money laundering".
Together with Veliaj, businessman Elman Abule also opposes the "prison arrest" measure in the Appeal, while businessmen Gentian Sula, Meriman Palushi and Shkëlqim Tufa oppose the "compulsion to appear" measure.
