From time to time, so-called "challenges" are launched on social networks, and many users tend to complete them either for fun or for a few more clicks.
But often these challenges are extremely dangerous, and in not a few cases have proved fatal.
The most recent is that of jumping from the back of the boat while it is sailing fast.
Authorities in Alabama say at least four people have died attempting the challenge.
Jumping from a boat that is speeding can be fatal, with a broken neck, or drowning due to the large waves created by the engine.
"It rarely happens, but it doesn't mean it has to continue. All deaths were avoidable. In February, a father died when he jumped from the boat where he was with his wife and three children. The most recent death was in May. All the victims are men," a member of the first aid team told the US media.
