Edi Rama

Prime Minister Edi Rama again attacked the student protest during an address on social platforms with the Minister of Interior, Ervin Demo.

He described it as an "imaginary student movement" and claimed that people with criminal records were involved in the protest by posing as students.

Rama said he had been informed of a list of people detained and prosecuted by the State Police, who, according to him, have exercised violence and are unrelated to the student's status.

"Yesterday I was informed of a long list of people with criminal records, who under the guise of students, but without any connection to student status, to the imaginary student movement, committed violence and have been detained and prosecuted by the State Police," he declared.

The Prime Minister claimed that the goal of these individuals is to destabilize the country and that organized crime and foreign influences are behind them.

Edi Rama: We also have a number of specifics that we are following carefully. Yesterday I was informed of a long list of people with criminal precedents, who under the guise of a student, but without any connection to the student status, to the imaginary student movement, exercised violence and were detained and processed by the State Police. A list, that is, representative of a component of protesters that has been integrated into this diverse mass of people, with a clear goal: destabilizing the country and diverting our path, turning us back to the past. Behind those people are organized crime and foreign hands that we continue to investigate intensively. What impressed me was again the reaction of the corrupt screens to a list that should at least make everyone reflect on not distancing themselves from violence. According to the VIPs of the evenings of hymning violence on these screens, they belong to a transformative moment for Albania. There is no other transformative moment here than an open challenge to the problems that require addressing. The language of insults, stones and threats cannot gain a civic approach for the next day. We are working long hours, I am attentive to the real causes of some who sympathize with a protest and feel the need to protest. Despite being distanced from violence, as long as that urban terror was caused by a diverse mass of ideologically radicalized people, from ANTIFA, religiously radicalized, people paid to create religious division. They entered the crowd, disguised as students, to exercise violence.
