Mother of 4-year-old in Korça

Volsjana Plasa says that her son had been telling her for days that he was being raped by the teacher. The mother claims that she found the child herself in the yard, while the teacher was yelling at her and accusing her of lying.

An educator has been arrested in Korça, after allegedly abusing a 4-year-old child in the kindergarten he attended. The child's mother, Volsjana Plasa, says that the boy had been telling her for several days that the educator was hitting him, and claims that her concerns were initially denied by the staff and director of the kindergarten.

In a story about the incident, Plasa says that it all started four days before the complaint, when her son told her that the teacher was hitting him. She went to the kindergarten to seek clarification, but, according to her, the educators denied the claim and accused the child of lying, even in his presence.

"Four days ago, the boy complained to me. He said: 'Mom, the teacher hits me.' I went there and told them that the child complains that the teacher hits him. They said: 'No, this is a child. Why are you lying?' They told the boy in my presence," the mother recounts.

According to her, the next day, the boy began to show fear of going to kindergarten. He told her that the educator had put him in a closet, while the mother says she asked the staff not to scare the child anymore. This time too, her claims, according to the story, were denied.

"My son goes in the morning to take his child and on the way he says to me: 'Mom, don't save me, I'm scared, the teacher is hitting me.' I told him I would explain it myself," Plasa says.

She says she also contacted the kindergarten director, who, according to her, had assured her that there were security cameras on the premises of the institution and that the footage could be verified. However, the mother claims that she was not convinced by the answers she received and that her concerns were not properly addressed.

"I found her yelling at the boy"

The most difficult moment, according to the mother's account, occurred when she returned to pick up her son from kindergarten. She claims that she found the child in the yard, while one of the educators was holding his hand tightly and shouting at him.

"This teacher had grabbed the boy by the hand, squeezed him, and was calling him. What I saw terrified me. She was saying, 'Why are you lying? There are cameras there, but you don't believe me? Turn on the cameras, see for yourself,'" Plasa recounts.

The mother claims that when she intervened to pick up her son, the situation escalated. According to her, the teacher accused her of teaching her child to hit others, and then took her phone and threw it at her. Plasa says that there was also a physical altercation between them, after which she decided to leave with her son and go to the police station to report the incident.

"I leave the child in kindergarten to educate him. I take him to learn, not to be abused. I told him that he would face the law. I took the child and went straight to the police station, where I made my statement in the presence of the police," she says.

"I had noticed a red mark on my neck"

Volsjana Plasa also says that, a few days before the incident, she had noticed a red mark on the boy's neck. When she asked him what had happened, he had told her that the teacher had hit him.

"In the first days of kindergarten, the child had a red mark on his neck and told me that the teacher hit him. At that moment, I didn't pay much attention. But after what happened, everything took on a different meaning for me," the mother recounts.

She requests that the responsible institutions verify the case and conduct more frequent checks in kindergartens where young children are staying.

"It's good that my child spoke and knows how to tell what happened to him. What about those children who don't speak? Who knows how much they may have suffered. I beg educational institutions to carry out checks. We take children to kindergarten to educate and learn, not to be abused," Plasa concludes.

The case is expected to be investigated by the competent authorities to clarify the circumstances of the incident and the respective responsibilities.

The mother's claims, as well as any possible evidence, including security camera footage, remain elements that can help fully shed light on what happened in the kindergarten in Korça.
