The State Police has reinforced security measures in Tirana for the protest announced for today, after noting calls on social networks for the gathering of masked people and the use of dangerous means during the rally.

Albert Nushi, head of the Management Sector at the Department of Public Security, stated to the media that messages calling for attacks on police officers, burning vehicles, and damage to public and private property have been identified.

According to him, criminal proceedings have been initiated for these cases, while specialized structures are working to identify the responsible persons.

Police have called on citizens not to engage in illegal activities, while asking parents to avoid exposing their children to dangerous situations.

A special appeal has also been made to journalists and media operators, who are asked to respect security perimeters while reporting in the field.

Nushi: Given the continuous calls on social networks and in open groups on online platforms for the gathering of masked individuals equipped with pyrotechnics, Molotov cocktails, metal balls and screws, wooden and metal sticks, stones and other hard objects, with the aim of exercising violence during the rally announced for today, the State Police has increased preventive and reactive measures to guarantee public order and safety.

Even yesterday and in the early hours of this morning, the State Police has detected numerous calls for attacks on Police officers, the destruction and burning of Police vehicles, as well as damage to public and private property.

In relation to these calls, the State Police has initiated criminal proceedings and specialized structures are carrying out investigative actions to identify the responsible persons and bring them to legal responsibility.

Persons who intend to exploit the gathering to commit violence, regardless of disguise or attempts to hide their identity, will be identified and face legal responsibility. Participants in the gathering should distance themselves from masked and violent persons and not become part of illegal actions.

We urge parents not to allow their children to participate in gatherings or stay in environments where their safety may be put at risk by clashes and violent acts warned about on social media. Protecting children from dangerous situations is a shared responsibility.

Journalists and media operators reporting from the field must respect the security perimeters established by the Police and the instructions of Police officers, to avoid endangering their lives and health. We highly appreciate the importance of informing the public and freely exercising journalistic activity, in compliance with security measures.

Once again, we appeal for calm, responsibility, and respect for the law, so that the rally can take place peacefully and without compromising anyone's safety.

The constitutional right to peacefully assemble will be respected and protected, but cannot be used as a justification for violence, attacks on police officers, or destruction of property.

The State Police guarantees citizens that the Police services in the field will act in accordance with the law, respecting the principle of proportionality in responding to any act of violence and illegality.
