The government has updated, through a new decision, the rules for the expenses of senior state officials and public administration employees during their services abroad.
This is the new regulation document, which entered into force at the end of July and defines in detail the criteria for travel, accommodation and daily allowances.
According to the regulation, the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, the Speaker of the Parliament, the Deputy Prime Minister and the ministers will be accommodated in five-star hotels.
Deputies, secretaries general of ministries and directors general will stay in four-star hotels, while other public administration employees will be accommodated in three-star hotels.
For security reasons, members of the Republican Guard accompanying state dignitaries may be accommodated in the same hotel as the person they are guarding, regardless of the hotel category.
The decision also determines the amount of daily allowances for trips abroad. The President of the Republic, the Prime Minister and the Speaker of the Assembly receive a daily allowance of 120 to 150 euros. For ministers and the Deputy Prime Minister, the allowance ranges from 80 to 120 euros per day.
Deputies, deputy ministers and secretaries-general receive 70–80 euros per day, while directors-general and ambassadors receive 50–60 euros. For other administrative employees, the daily allowance is set at 45–55 euros. Another change is related to the method of payment of expenses.
Travel tickets and hotel accommodation will be booked and paid for directly by the relevant institution. Meanwhile, only the amount foreseen for daily expenses will be transferred to the officials' bank accounts before departure. (TCH)
