Former President Donald Trump says he is "good health", after the shooting that happened this Sunday near his golf resort, in Florida, USA.
"There were gunshots near where I was staying. But before the rumors get out of hand, I wanted you to hear this: I'm safe and sound. Nothing will slow me down, I will never give up. I will always love you for your support," Trump said.
The shooting happened around 2:00 p.m. (local time), outside the grounds of Trump's golf resort.
One person was arrested for the incident and a firearm was also seized.
The Secret Service said it was investigating the incident, while according to international media, agents opened fire on the suspect after he tried to escape.
Authorities believe the person in question intended to target Trump.
However, officials are expected to give an accurate version of the event in question.
The shooting follows the failed assassination attempt on Trump that took place on July 13 during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. Since then, security around the Republican candidate has been heightened.
President Joe Biden and his deputy Kamala Harris also reacted to this Sunday's event.
Both expressed relief that Trump was safe.
Almost two months ago, Mr. Trump was shot during an assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania, and a bullet pierced his ear.
Former President Trump had returned to Florida this weekend from a campaign trip in the western part of the country, including a rally Friday night in Las Vegas and a fundraiser in Utah.
His campaign team did not immediately provide additional details.
