A well-known name in Serbian football has been arrested as an international cocaine trafficker. It is about Dushan Petrovic, the former player of the Serbian national team, with a past in the Bundesliga, was arrested while he was transporting 115 kilograms of cocaine.
The 48-year-old former footballer was arrested in Amsterdam, in an action coordinated by Europol. He was one of the 8 people arrested for international trafficking, after they had organized the passage of narcotic substances from Latin America to Rotterdam. From there they had spent this amount in Arlon, Belgium and were planning to spend it in Germany, where Petkovic has played in his career with Bundesliga clubs such as Wolfsburg and Nuremberg.
Petkovic is currently the sporting director of OFK Belgrade club in Serbian football. He is a well-known name even though he has not played many matches with his representative. His name made a splash especially in 2006, when he gathered in Serbia to participate in the World Cup instead of the injured Mirko Vu?ini? (at that time Serbia and Montenegro were represented together). But he withdrew from the gathering after the invitation had come from his father, Ilija Petkovic, who was the coach of the national team, and it was described as a big scandal.
