Iran is lowering expectations for a new round of talks in Islamabad and suspects that Donald Trump's statements about a possible deal could serve as cover for a surprise attack by the United States, Axios reports.
By the afternoon of the same day, the Iranian side had not yet confirmed sending negotiators to Islamabad, while some officials in Tehran have raised the possibility that Trump's real goal may be to restart the conflict.
On the other hand, the Iranian state news agency IRNA has denied that talks are planned, stating that the Trump administration's "unreasonable and unrealistic demands, frequent changes of positions and constant contradictions" leave no room for fruitful negotiations.
According to Axios, it remains unclear when exactly the talks might begin, as well as the timing of the possible departure of the American delegation led by JD Vance from Washington.
