The US Embassy in Tirana reacted on Saturday evening to the violent protests that took place in the capital.

The US Embassy calls for demonstrations to be held peacefully and without acts of violence.

The Embassy emphasizes that violence, physical injury to persons, and destruction of property do not constitute civic engagement, while calling on all parties to exercise restraint and calm.

"Violence, riots, physical harm to others and destruction of property are not civic engagement. We call on all citizens who choose to demonstrate to exercise their right to protest peacefully, without violent acts. We call on all parties to exercise restraint and calm," the reaction states.
