A day ago, Eris Xhaja went viral after he went to protest, holding his 1-year-old daughter in his arms.
In an interview with "Albania Live", he explained why he took this action, while also responding to comments on social media accusing him of seeking to quell the protest.
" I felt obligated as a parent to go out to that protest. I wanted this to stop. The protest to continue, but not the violence. I felt obligated to change the protest strategy, so that this system would fall. This rotten system falls easily, you just have to boycott everything. Leave your jobs, block the streets. By making this kind of gesture, I would influence the protesters to take their children and the police can't touch the children. When I came out, nothing was happening. The protesters had fallen peacefully and when I went, I wanted to give a different voice to the protest.
I think the anger of the citizens has surpassed everything, to the point that they managed to smear me, instead of dealing with the cause. In the child, I have influenced her subconscious, so that when she grows up, she will be responsible for the future of her homeland.
I have always worked as a waiter. I am currently unemployed.
"There is bloodshed, teenagers are being raped and massacred. They should not be raped ," the young man said.
