TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew is expected to speak before the House Energy and Commerce Committee on Thursday.
According to Reuters, Chew will argue at the hearing that the app, with 150 million US citizens as subscribers, has never shared US user data with the Chinese government.
"TikTok has never shared or received a request to share US data from the Chinese government," the Reuters news agency reports TikTok's CEO as saying.
According to him, the parent company of TikTok, ByteDance, is not owned or controlled by any government or state entity.
"Let me state this categorically: ByteDance is not an agent of China or any other country," Shou Zi Chew will tell the committee.
We recall that TikTok announced on Monday that more than 150 million people in the United States use the popular application on a monthly basis.
"While TikTok users in the United States represent 10% of our global community, their voice accounts for 25% of total views worldwide."
Britain, the United States, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium and Canada have all recently issued orders banning the use of TikTok.
Experts fear that sensitive information could be exposed when downloading the app, especially on government devices.
