The cost of clearing the land where the new Tirana-Durres railway and the branch to Rinas will pass has increased.

The Council of Ministers has approved an amendment expanding the expropriation map and increasing the fund available to landowners.

According to the leaked decision, the limit fund for compensating owners of real estate (fields, land, vineyards) changes from the 280.4 million lek that was initially foreseen, to 377.3 million lek (about 3.7 million euros).

This addition of about 97 million lek comes as a result of two factors where the expropriation values ??for 15 existing properties on the list have been changed, and 31 new properties have been added to the expropriation table, which indicates that the project has affected additional land areas that were not included in the initial plan.

Additional procedural costs will be covered by the company "Albanian Railways" jsc. Meanwhile, the implementation of this decision has been entrusted to the State Cadastre Agency (specifically the Vorë, Tirana Rural 2 and Krujë directorates), as well as the land administration directorates in the Tirana and Durrës regions.

This project is considered one of the most strategic infrastructure works, aiming to reduce travel time between the two main cities to 22 minutes and Tirana-Rina to just 12 minutes.
