The police have arrested one of the witnesses for the murder of doctor Pjerin Xhuvani in Elbasan before the parliamentary elections of April 25, 2021.

The citizen with the initials MK, who was arrested immediately after leaving the courtroom, where he testified about the incident and the perpetrator, Arbër Paplekaj, was put in handcuffs. The reason for the arrest was the contradictory evidence he gave before the judge and the prosecutor.

In his first statement, the witness gave another testimony which does not match the statement given today, but also inconsistent with the footage that the prosecution already has from the scene.

Emphasizing that his contradictory statements are intentional and aimed at hindering the investigation, the court decided to arrest him, a measure which was implemented by the police immediately after leaving the session.

On April 21, 2021 in Elbasan, a conflict between two support groups of DP and SP, degraded to the use of weapons. Pjerin Xhuvani, a supporter of the SP, was killed, while Arbër Paplekaj, the bodyguard of the political leader of the DP in Elbasan at the time, Gazment Bardhi, surrendered for the crime.
