The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, has cut off contact with her father, Thomas Markle, sending him a letter in which she informed him that she and the authorities were aware of allegations of sexual abuse of underage girls. According to sources close to the duchess, in the letter sent last year, Meghan communicated to her father that he would never meet his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet, also making it clear that she would no longer contact him.

The letter was allegedly sent to Thomas Markle in 2025, while he was hospitalized in the Philippines, where he had had one of his legs amputated. The correspondence marks another chapter in the strained relationship between father and daughter, who have been "cold" since 2018, when Thomas Markle did not attend Meghan's royal wedding to Prince Harry, citing health problems.

According to reports published by British media, the letter contained references to disturbing allegations about her father and the fact that the authorities were aware of them. In a statement released on Friday, Meghan confirmed the existence of the letter. She has not given any other public details about all the allegations mentioned in the correspondence.

The case has taken on a new dimension after authorities in the Philippines confirmed they are investigating the allegations involving Thomas Markle. On Friday, Philippine officials told the BBC that the task force on combating human trafficking and child sexual exploitation was handling the case. Meanwhile, the Philippines' Interior Minister, Jonvic Remulla, said separately that the national police had seized Thomas Markle's computer and would conduct a digital forensic examination to verify any material it may contain.

According to reports, images of child sexual abuse were allegedly found at Thomas Markle's former residence in the Philippines. British police had informed Meghan and Prince Harry about the allegations against their father in 2019. However, Thomas Markle, who lives in the United States, denies all allegations of sexual abuse of minors and possession of child sexual abuse material.

In an interview with the British newspaper "Mail on Sunday", Thomas Markle admitted that during previous visits to the Philippines he had paid for sex, but categorically denied having sex with underage girls or possessing images of child sexual abuse. His statements come at a time when the matter is being reviewed by Philippine and British authorities.

The relationship between Meghan and her father has been characterized by conflict and lack of communication for years.
