Journalists and media organizations in the country have reacted strongly to the attack of their colleague from Vlora, journalist Afrovita Hysaj, who was lynched by the local television "6+1 Vlora" because of the statements regarding the serious incident of the rape of a 26-year-old woman by three boys in this town.
Among them is the journalist Anila Hoxha, who says that she stands by the journalist Hysaj, who was attacked with humiliating and derogatory language by the television in question.
Journalist Hysaj was attacked by Vlonjat television after she is accused of alluding that 4 boys took part in the rape of the 26-year-old a few days ago in Vlora and not 3 as reported by the police. According to these hints, the fourth suspected author is the brother of the television director in question. While two other suspected perpetrators have sisters who are directors in the Municipality, again according to hints made on a Facebook page that is reported to be managed by the journalist Hysaj.
" A journalist is not killed only by bullets
Not only with tritol
Not only with warning sms
A journalist is killed even like this, through humiliating labels, derogatory language and labeling
A journalist is killed even when they approach his family by creating unsafe jobs, unsafe professions for them, pointing fingers at the sister/brother/husband/wife/mother/father of the journalist who wrote for us and is against us!
Today I SPEAK about Afrovita Hysaj and I stand by her ", writes journalist Hoxha.
Another reaction came from the Union of Albanian Journalists, calling the event a "serious act" as it demanded that the television withdraw the news.
The reaction of the Union of Albanian Journalists:
Serious precedent of channel 6+1 Vlora with the name and image of a journalist
The Union of Albanian Journalists is shocked by the publication of a report on the website of the channel 6+1 Vlora with the title: "..." Afrovita Hysaj deceives the citizens of Vlora", published on October 24, 2023, by the local media on this media's website .
This report, through the language and vocabulary it contains, seriously violates the ethics codes of journalism, publicly lynches a media worker, defames public communication and its obligation and marks a rare precedent in the attack of a media against a local journalist.
The case in question has shocked the entire professional opinion and opened numerous discussions among our entity.
The Union of Albanian Journalists considers this a serious act.
For this reason, we urgently request that the editor of this media, its administrator, urgently withdraw this report from the publication and official pages of the media.
In accordance with the codes of ethics and the rules of journalism, reflect immediately, as this material in its text also contains illegal value. Our request is based on respect and embodiment of the principles and norms of a journalism, as a public mission, in the service of the public and not as a "private tool that can cut and hurt citizens, and even more so, media persons.
This case deserves the immediate intervention of the AMA and organizations that deal with the protection of ethics, principles and norms of public communication and even more of standard reporting.
