Two Shkodra police officers have saved the life of a 75-year-old man who had jumped into the Buna River to end his life.

The elderly man was spotted in the cold water of the Buna River by bystanders, who notified the police.

The two officers, Kristi Koçeku and Samet Qotaj, as soon as they arrived at the scene, jumped into the water wearing police uniforms, managing to pull Bahri Gërbeti out of the river.

Meanwhile, the 75-year-old man stated that he had jumped into the water to drown because he had some problems.

"I wanted to drown myself because I have personal problems," the 75-year-old is reported to have said briefly in his preliminary statement.

Bahri Gërbeti was taken to the Shkodra regional hospital for first aid and is out of danger.
