Two buses carrying passengers from Greece are reportedly being held hostage for over five hours in Gjirokastra.
The buses are being held at the entrance to the Gjirokastra Local Police Directorate building, with the excuse that contraband cigarettes and olive oil were found inside them.
Passengers have expressed outrage over the delay, saying that the cigarette packs and about 7 cans of olive oil were taken for personal consumption.
The exact quantity of cigarettes and olive oil has not been disclosed. Customs allows the passage of two packs of cigarettes per person.
The passengers are mainly immigrants returning home for the holiday season.
