Homes and greenhouses at risk, 4 people arrested in Berat for arson

Berat police have identified and arrested four citizens for intentional arson in the "Uznovë" neighborhood and in the villages of Osmëzezë and Drenovicë.

As a result of these fires, homes, greenhouses have been endangered, and land and fruit trees have been destroyed.

As part of the operation, the services of the Berat Police Commissariat arrested the following citizens:

Sh. D., 49 years old, resident of the "Uznovë" neighborhood, suspected of starting a fire in this neighborhood, where homes were endangered and an area of land was burned.

ZM, 56 years old, resident of the village of Osmëzezë, suspected of starting a fire on his land, causing the burning of land and fruit trees belonging to two other citizens.

Also, the services of the Dimal Police Station arrested:

M., 53 years old, and LB, 56 years old, residents of the village of Samatic, suspected of starting fires in the village of Drenovicë, where olive trees were burned and there was a risk of greenhouses burning.


The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Berat, for further action.

The Berat Local Police Directorate once again appeals to all citizens not to light fires under any circumstances, as they will face criminal consequences.
