Two arsonists arrested in Fier and Lushnje, one resisted firefighters from extinguishing the flames

Two people have been arrested by Fier police after setting fires in the Vjosa National Park and in Lushnje. 

61-year-old Shezai Banaj has been arrested after allegedly starting a fire in a place called "Mezarak" in the Vjosa River valley, which resulted in the burning of an area of 300 olive trees and various vegetation in the national park.

Arjan Kaja, 58, was also arrested after allegedly starting a fire on his land in the village of Dushk, where as a result of the flames spreading, an area of land was burned. The 58-year-old also resisted firefighters trying to put out the flames. 

"The Crime Investigation Specialists of the Fier Police Commissariat arrested in flagrante delicto the citizen Sh. B., 61 years old, resident of the village of Cakran, for the criminal offenses "Destruction of property by fire" and "Damage to habitats in environmentally protected areas", after it is suspected that he started a fire in the Vjosa river valley, specifically in the place called "Mezarak", where as a result of the spread of the flames, a considerable area of land (field), 300 olive trees and various types of vegetation of the national park were burned.

The Crime Investigation Specialists of the Lushnje Police Commissariat arrested in flagrante delicto the citizen AK, 58 years old, resident of the village of Dushk, for the criminal offenses "Destruction of property by fire" and "Opposing an employee performing a state duty or a public service", after it is suspected that he started a fire on his land in the village of Dushk, where as a result of the spread of the flames, an area of land was burned," the police announced.
