The head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, has not hidden his surprise at a surprising detail regarding the latest anti-drug operation that took place between Albanian and Finnish authorities, finalized in the early hours of this morning after a two-year investigation.

Dumani noted that this is the first time that SPAK has hit an Albanian group trafficking synthetic drugs, as according to him, Albanian criminal groups always prefer cocaine, heroin and cannabis.

"We as SPAK were impressed because it is the first time we have identified a criminal group that sells synthetic drugs. We have seen that Albanian groups are addicted to cocaine, heroin and cannabis, but now it is the first time we see a group that operates in the field of trafficking synthetic drugs," he said.

Altin Dumani said that in Albania, mainly for the leaders and high-level members of the group, 11 arrest warrants have been issued and 9 of them have been executed.

So, nine people have been arrested, one citizen could not be located, and the eleventh is outside Albania.

"The organizers preferred to stay here in Albania and led the group from here. 11 arrest warrants have been issued, all Albanian citizens. 10 are in Albania and one turns out not to be in Albania," the chief prosecutor explained.

Two of the leaders of the criminal group who were based in Albania and led criminal groups in Finland, were originally from Vlora. The Chief Prosecutor of SPAK praised the cooperation with counterparts.

"The cooperation has been very intensive. The investigators now have daily communication with their Finnish counterparts and it has been made possible thanks to the dynamic follow-up," said Altin Dumani.
