The Prime Minister's Office sends Adela Xhemali's proposal for AFSA director to the Parliament!

The Council of Ministers has decided to propose the candidacy of former Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy, Adela Xhemali , for Director General of the Financial Supervisory Authority .

Xhemal's candidacy is expected to be approved by the Assembly , according to legal procedures. 

Who is Adela Xhemali, who is expected to be the director of AFSA:

Adela Xhemali held the position of Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy during the period February 2020 - March 2025.

Her areas of responsibility are focused on macroeconomics; planning and budgeting; treasury; public debt and public finance management, as well as European integration processes.

He previously held the positions of Director of the National Development Projects Unit, Director of Financial Programming and Foreign Assistance in the Prime Minister's Office, and Director General of the Department of Treasury and Public Debt Management.

During the years 2020–2025, Ms. Xhemali has been a representative of the Republic of Albania, in the role of governor, deputy governor or member of administrative councils, in several international financial institutions and multilateral development banks, such as the IMF, the World Bank Group, MIGA, EBRD, CEB, ISBD, etc.

She has held the position of board member or board chairperson in various Albanian institutions, such as the Deposit Insurance Agency, the Albanian Development Fund, the Albanian Investment Corporation, etc.

Ms. Xhemali's experience in the private sector is focused on the banking industry, where she has held leadership positions, such as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Vice President of American Bank of Albania and Intesa Sanpaolo Bank for 13 years.

She graduated from the University of Tirana with a Master of Science in Finance/Banking and from the University of Liverpool, with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration.

He has also studied at Hult Ashridge Executive Education and Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education.
