The State Police has stated that since yesterday, some false information has been circulating on social networks, in which it is stated that teachers who were in protest yesterday have been threatened, claiming that they were sent by the police.
The police have described them as an attempt to damage the institution's image and spread panic among citizens.
Police reaction:
In recent days, fake news has been published on social networks that aim to damage the image of the State Police, violate order and security, and question respect for the right to protest peacefully.
Regarding the footage published by Rinas, which claims that foreign citizens are being brought to Albania to be held in prison, we clarify that these claims are untrue.
These are citizens who are being transported from Italy to Gjadri, to the reception center for illegal immigrants.
Meanwhile, yesterday, several teachers and lecturers were sent messages on behalf of the State Police, with intimidating content, claiming that they were filmed by the Police while participating in the rally and that they will be contacted to communicate the charges.
We clarify that these messages were not sent by the State Police, but by still unidentified persons, with the aim of spreading panic and damaging citizens' trust in the Police.
We assure teachers and educators that the right to peacefully assemble is a constitutional right and that the State Police has the legal obligation to respect and guarantee it.
In all announcements and public appearances by State Police representatives, it has been made clear that this right is respected and guaranteed. Any claim to the contrary is false and malicious.
We also clarify to the public that the published news about massive resignations from the ranks of the State Police is untrue.
We also assure citizens that no police leader has given illegal orders to use violence during the days of the rally.
The State Police is at your service, in accordance with the law, to guarantee your life, property and rights. We urge you not to fall prey to false information that aims to undermine the legal mission of the State Police and your trust in it.
