Cadastra reacts after allegations of violence against journalist and cameraman by institution guard

The State Cadastral Agency (ASHK), Kamëz-Vorë branch, has reacted publicly after the news published today that a person and the institution's 2 private guards have raped and obstructed the performance of their duties of journalist Domenika Bajraktari and the cameraman who accompanied her.

ASHK distances itself from any act of violence in this case that has affected media representatives, while clarifying that the arrested person with the initials FM, 67 years old, who is suspected of raping the journalist, is not part of the Cadastre staff.

Meanwhile, regarding the two guards of the institution, QL, 64 years old and HB, 52 years old, for whom criminal proceedings have been initiated after they are suspected of damaging the filming camera and obstructing the media in the exercise of their duties, ASHK indicates that the case is being verified, and if any legal violation is found, immediate measures will be taken.

Regarding the news published today about the incident that occurred near the Kamez-Vorë Local Directorate, we clarify that:

The State Cadastral Agency condemns and distances itself from any act of violence against media representatives during the exercise of their duties.

Regarding the reported case, we clarify that the person who committed the act against the journalist is not an employee of the State Cadastre Agency. In the meantime, we are reviewing all the footage managed by the security cameras and, if a violation by the private guards is found, legal and contractual steps will be taken immediately to prevent the recurrence of such cases.

The State Cadastre Agency expresses full confidence in law enforcement institutions and is convinced that they will conduct investigations and administer justice according to the law.

We believe that the work of journalists is an important element in informing citizens and maintaining institutional transparency.
