The Institute for Albanian Municipalities has reacted to the fire situation in the country, where evacuation orders have been announced for residents in Gramsh and Delvina.
In a statement to the media, the Institute for Municipalities requests an urgent meeting of the Inter-Ministerial Committee for Civil Emergencies to consider declaring a state of natural disaster.
"We suggest urgently calling a meeting of the Inter-Ministerial Committee for Civil Emergencies and considering declaring a state of natural disaster, categorizing the situation as a civil emergency according to the law," the reaction states.
In this reaction, the Institute for Albanian Municipalities also expresses full solidarity with all citizens and communities affected by the fires, but also with the fire brigades who are facing danger to their lives.
The institute says that a full assessment of the damages caused and the implementation of legal measures for their compensation and recovery should also be carried out, while it also appeals to citizens to respect evacuation orders: "We call on all residents of affected municipalities or those located in high-risk areas to respect the calls and instructions of the Minister of Defense, Mayors and the Director of Civil Emergencies, regarding possible evacuation measures."
