Lawyer Redi Ramaj spoke about the release of former MP Ervin Salianji. The latter was released today by the Fier Court, following Salianji's request through lawyer Ramaj and Ledio Braho.

Ramaj stressed that he is waiting for the decision of the Appeals Court that convicted Salianj a year ago to be clarified, in order to take him to the Constitutional Court.

Lawyer Redi Ramaj: Every citizen has the right, when they receive a sentence with the completion of a certain period of the sentence, with 2/3, to request early release on parole for the remaining part of the sentence.

From May 27, it was the deadline to request conditional release. He went to the Fier court, based on the law, the court decided, looking at the relevant documentation, that he had no previous convictions and was a non-dangerous person.

As a right he exercised this right and the court recognized it. He benefited like all Albanians. There were delays. On May 27, the request was made, the decision was given today, the 8th. The decision was given a month or so later. The court created conviction and gave the decision.

The early release is not related to the original sentence that Mr. Salianji received. We await the decision of the Appeals Court to take it to the Constitutional Court.
