Veliaj's lawyers: The mayor is not the owner of the seized apartment, what happened in court today

SPAK has submitted to the Special Court GJKKO the bi-monthly periodic information related to the security measure for the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, Erion Veliaj.

According to the mayor's lawyers, this action is part of the procedural routine followed by the prosecution in such cases and is not related to any request by Veliaj for a change or relaxation of the security measure.

"The information sent by the prosecution today to the Special Court of Appeals contains facts that have already been made public before, that the mayor is being investigated for using the cell phone of one of the prison police officers to communicate with his family members while he was being transported to the Special Court of Appeals," Veliaj's lawyers declare.

They also state that the information sent is also related to the investigation made public regarding an apartment owned by the company Agikons. The lawyers of the mayor of Tirana have stated that neither Erion Veliaj nor Mrs. Ajola Xoxa are the owners of this seized property and have no property or legal connection with the commercial entity "AK" shpk, nor with the property that is the object of the "preventive seizure" property insurance measure.

"The seizure decision for this apartment has been appealed to the Special Court of Appeal by the company Agikons shpk, which is also the owner of this apartment."
