
Arbër Paplekaj, accused of the murder of Pjerin Xuvani, known as "Pipi i Elbasani", has requested conditional release.
It is learned that Arbër Paplekaj has filed a request for his release from prison at the Durrës Court. The Court of Appeal, with a decision dated July 1, 2024, sentenced the former RENEA officer to 7 years in prison.
Pjerin Xhuvani was killed on April 21, 2021 before the parliamentary elections of April 25, he was a supporter of the Socialist Party.
Paplekaj was part of an "SMV", a structure for the Protection of Votes set up in Elbasan by the DP.
After a verbal altercation after SMV suspected that Xhuvani was part of a group that was buying votes, the murder occurred, leaving Xhuvani dead and 4 other people injured.
The injured were Paulo Vuksani, Emiljano Prenga, Eltjon Bodinaku and Xhensila Sota.
From the day of his arrest until today, former RENEA officer Arbër Paplekaj has been in custody, accused of shooting Xhuvan and his son-in-law, Eltjon Bodinaku, to death.
It is still unknown who shot Emiljano Prenga and Paulo Vuksan, both former police officers.
Paplekaj, a former RENEA operative, surrendered and admitted to the crime, saying that he had carried out the attack after having been previously shot with a firearm.
