While dispersing the crowd on the streets of the capital, the Police also continued to escort protesters, who were part of this Saturday's national student protest.

The streets of Tirana are now empty, while police cars patrol.

On the boulevard, cleaning has already begun of stones and other hard objects thrown during the clash with the police.

Tensions and numerous clashes were recorded at the national protest called by the Democratic Party and youth this Saturday in the capital.

What happened during today's protest?

The protest, which started peacefully, quickly ended in violent clashes between protesters who attempted to set fire to state and cultural institutions, while the police attempted to disperse the crowds using water cannons, tear gas, and rubber bullets.

The parties started the rally separately.

The first to take to the boulevard were Sali Berisha's supporters, who, after setting fire to the seats set up for dialogue with the students, joined the young people at the Ministry of Education.

A few minutes of silence and calls for revolution and the removal of the prime minister gave way to violence.

The escalation of the situation initially began in front of the Ministry of Education, where protesters, after setting fire to garbage cans, threw stones and pyrotechnics at the police, who responded with water cannons and tear gas.

After the Ministry of Education, the battlefield moved to "Martyrs of the Nation" Boulevard, where the target of the attacks was the government headquarters.

The police responded to the protesters' attacks not only by throwing water cannons and tear gas, but also by using rubber bullets.

After paralyzing several of the axes in the center of the capital, the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Environment became the target of another attack, setting the latter on fire.

The Puppet Theater did not escape the protesters' target either.

It only took a few minutes for the clash to escalate to Skanderbeg Square, where after protesters holding sticks threw pyrotechnics and Molotov cocktails, the police reacted with tear gas and rubber bullets.

In a few minutes, almost the entire center of the capital turned into a war arena, where there were injuries among the police and protesters.

In the evening hours, protesters set fire to garbage cans, kiosks and destroyed the windows of several stores in Tirana, including a second-tier bank in the "Vasil Shanto" area.

13 injured

Meanwhile, 13 people have presented for medical assistance at Tirana hospitals and polyclinics after injuries sustained during today's protest.

According to the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, 9 people showed up at the University Trauma Hospital, including 7 protesters and 2 media representatives.

Meanwhile, a protester and a police officer have presented themselves at the “Mother Teresa” University Hospital Center. Both have received medical attention and have been discharged from the hospital. Two other police officers, injured in the eyes, have presented themselves at the Specialties Polyclinic No. 2 in Tirana.
