The Competition Authority places the American Hospital under investigation!

The Competition Authority has placed American Hospital SHA and International Hospital SHA under preliminary investigation in the hospital services market.

The announcement was made by the Competition Commission, at its meeting on 09.04.2025, which reviewed the monitoring report on the hospital service market.

According to the monitoring, the dominant position of the companies American Hospital SHA and International Hospital SHA (a company merged by absorption by American Hospital SHA) has been established, within the meaning of Article 8 of Law No. 9121/2003.

Also, from preliminary data, it has been established that in relation to certain and exclusive services, these enterprises may be subject to assessment under Article 9 of Law No. 9121/2003.

For these reasons, the Competition Commission, by Decision No. 1173, dated 09.04.2025, decided to open a preliminary investigation procedure against the companies American Hospital SHA and International Hospital SHA in the hospital service market. The preliminary investigation will cover the period from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2024.
