Cristiano Ronaldo was introduced today as the youngest player of the Al Nassr team, while he gave a press conference before appearing in front of about 30 thousand people who had filled the "Mrsool Park" stadium.
The Portuguese star told reporters that he had many offers from around the world, but decided on Al-Nassr, an ambitious team with a big project. He emphasized that this is not the end of his career.
Ronaldo was welcomed with huge applause and cheers in the conference hall. He will earn 200 million euros per year with the Saudi team.
"I'm a unique player and it's normal for me that after breaking all the records in Europe, I should do the same in Saudi Arabia. The evolution of football is different and this is not the end of my career moving to the Middle East.
I came here to win, play well and enjoy my stay in Saudi Arabia to the fullest. So far, I'm feeling great. I am proud to have made this big decision in my life as a footballer. In Europe, my work ended after I played in the best clubs and had success. Now, I am in the new home, part of Al-Nassr and I am looking forward to start this challenge.
Also, I feel very happy and very proud to be part of this team and hope to motivate others. My family supported me in my decision, we are all happy. Getting here was fantastic, the people have received us very well and I am proud of the reception of the Saudis. For me it is a golden opportunity not only in football but also to change the mentality of the new generation.
I had many opportunities and offers in clubs in Europe, then Brazil, Australia, USA and Portugal tried to transfer me, but I gave my word to the club to help develop football in the whole country. It is a good opportunity to help with my experience for the development of football and offer a different vision of the Saudi state and football. That is why I took this opportunity to be here.
I want to help develop not only football but also the mentality, I want to help this movement grow, starting from the women's sector. Not everyone knows, but Al Nassr also has a women's team. I want to give this club a new perspective" , declared Cristiano Ronaldo.
