The Special Parliamentary Committee met today to discuss the Administrative-Territorial Reform. The report of the Opposition Experts on Territorial Reform was published in the commission, where it is requested to remove the counties and make 6 or 3 regions.
According to opposition experts, the creation of new rural municipalities would create greater opportunities for citizens. Another proposal from the opposition is to become a minister for local government.
The opposition also wants a link for local referendums.
The Democratic Party, the group led by Enkelejd Alibeaj, has already announced that it will propose increasing the number of municipalities from 61 to 92 municipalities and reducing the number of counties from 12 to 6 regions.
The re-establishment of Berisha, on the other hand, requires 95 municipalities and 5 regions.
