The head of the National Council has today approved the draft for the primaries for the selection of candidates for mayors for the local elections to be held next year. Not only the members of the Democratic Party, but also its sympathizers will vote for the primaries.

The PD will appoint tomorrow the negotiating group that will enter into negotiations with the allies to decide how they will appear in the local elections. This group of negotiators will be led by Sali Berisha.

If branch party chairpersons enter the race for the primaries, then their powers will be exercised by the branch deputy chairperson.

All these details were shown by the chairman of the National Council, Edi Paloka, after the end of the meeting.

Paloka : Today, as you are aware, at the request of the last National Council, the discussion on the rules of the primaries was postponed until today, as some of the members had not read it and had not seen it properly.

This issue was discussed today and what can be considered innovations from the last primaries are that in the votes, as defined by the DP Statute, not only the membership of the DP will participate, but also sympathizers, which, as you said, are clearly defined in the statute , who they are, how they register and all other modalities that define the figure of the sympathizer.

The statute also stipulates that sympathizers have the right to vote in the primaries, so in a way it is not new since it is clearly defined in the statute.

The other issue that was discussed is that of the candidacy of the heads of branches and the position they will hold during the moment when they run in the primaries. There were several proposals, but the proposal of the working group and the chairmanship was approved, a proposal which was made at this meeting of the National Council, according to which the heads of the branches who will run in the primaries during the candidacy, the functions will be carried out by the vice-chairmen of the branches as it is also determined by the statute of the Democratic Party.

E anasjellta, nëse nuk fitojnë në primare do të mbajnë pozicionin kryetarit të partisë.

Gjithashtu u votua edhe për një pikë që ishte e diskutueshme, nëse do të ketë balotazh midis kandidatëve dhe me votim u vendos që balotazhi do të qendrojë si proces gjatë votimit.

Paloka: Menjëherë pas ditës së sotme meqë ishte procesi i miratimit të rregullores, në një farë mënyre pengesë të themi në thonjëza për këtë çështje, menjëherë do të nisin kontaktet me aletatët, me të cilët do të bashkërendohet puna dhe gjithçka tjetër.

Detajet se si do të veprohet në rast se do të vendoset që aleatëve t’u lihet një zonë e lirë apo modalitete e tjera, do të përcaktohen gjatë këtyre bisedimeve.

Pyetje: Kush do të jenë negociatorët me atelatët?

Paloka: Sot mbyllëm rregulloren. Të gjitha këto do të përcaktohen në vazhdim. Nga nesër e tutje do të përcaktohet edhe grupi negociator, por besoj se vetë kryetari i Partisë Demokratike do të jetë negociatori kryesor, pra Z.Berisha.
