The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky addressed today with a message to the Parliament of Albania. At the beginning of his speech, Prime Minister Edi Rama told the Ukrainian leader that Albania is modest in providing assistance, but it has not been long since the Albanian people experienced the same story.
"This parliament, which today has the honor to convene to listen to you, is not known for its spirit of agreement. There are very rare cases when the parties have agreed and wholehearted support is one of those even rarer cases, when we all here have agreed.
The whole of Albania, the whole nation, including the other Albanian state, Kosovo, are lined up next to you. Albania is a much smaller country than Ukraine. Our possibilities are quite modest compared to the staggering size of large states. But we have believed from the beginning that our country can make no difference. Albania can be vocal, both in NATO and the UN. On May 5, Albania will be present at the donors' conference.
Our recent history when half a million Albanians were displaced from their lands helps us to feel from afar the great pain of Ukraine. "Your unwavering resistance at the head of the state, all parties to this tragedy are, in addition to extreme sacrifices, an invaluable service that you and your country are doing to the whole world," Rama said.
