Journalist Arjan Çani says that there are several reasons why the opposition is not starting the protests announced in September.
Speaking on "Pikat mbi i" on News 24, he said that Berisha does not have around 20 deputies with him and cannot go "into war" with a "broken leg".
At the same time, according to him, the thermometer that Berisha has put to measure the temperature of the citizens, does not show high numbers.
Why were there no protests in September?
We don't have the thermometer that the doctor has. He has a 30-year-old thermometer, one that apparently still works. The thermometer does not get very hot. He loves protests, he was shaped by protests, but the thermometer seems to have come out with a low temperature.
Second, he has noticed that things are not going so well within the PD. Today, Berisha counts about 20 MPs who are not with him. At first glance they seem to be of no value, but a party that goes into battle with a broken hand, or a sprained leg, can lose. The third hypothesis is the economic reason. It is one thing to say that there are many poor people in Albania and another thing to say that there is a lot of informality. When it was the fuel bill, it was Adriatik Lapaj who gathered people twice. A protest either exists organically, or it doesn't exist at all. Personally, I was against protests organized by parties. When a party says "I will protest", 90% is a failure. I am thankful that there were no protests in September, let alone in October. I can't wait for the citizens to protest.
Citizens have become apathetic?
The fact that they live without protest means that they have other informal income. The fact that they do not come out, the poverty that we find is not real. If the opposition does not touch this, this is hypocrisy. I know many poor people and I know why they don't go out, because they don't live with 300 thousand lek, but with 900-1 million.
