Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted on social media after a post by the sister of the 28-year-old from Elbasan, Erjon Vishkulli, who was injured in the eye during yesterday's protest in Tirana.
Rama explained that the initiative to send the young man for specialized treatment in Italy was taken by him personally and that the medical plane transport, as well as all expenses, were covered by the state.
According to the Prime Minister, he met the young man and his brother in the airport's VIP lounge before departing for Rome, where he wished them a speedy recovery.
Rama emphasized that his reaction is not related to protagonism, but to humanity, adding that after the end of the violence in the protests, even the injured people should receive the necessary medical assistance and treatment.
"When the madness of stones and Molotov cocktails stops, even the injured violators are citizens of this country who need to be helped, treated, and healed, " Rama writes, once again wishing 28-year-old Erjon Vishkulli a speedy recovery.
Rama's full statement:
The boy's sister from Elbasan posted the attached text, so it is with great regret that I have to return to this topic for anyone who reads, shares, or publishes her post.
As I previously informed, the initiative for the son's specialized medical service in Italy was not taken by "persons", but by me personally, and his trip to Rome by medical plane, as well as the coverage of expenses, were made possible precisely by the STATE and by no one else! I even wished him well before he left with his brother from the airport's VIP lounge, from where I myself, the President of the Republic or the Speaker of the Parliament, depart abroad.
Not at all for protagonism, because the protagonism these days belongs to the perpetrators and their instigators, but for humanity, because when the madness of stones and Molotov cocktails stops, even the injured perpetrators are citizens of this country who need to be helped, treated, and healed.
Past once again.
