In the cell until October, Beleri after the Appeal decision: I will complain in
Fred Beller

Fredi Beleri lost the opportunity to be sworn in as the mayor of Himara, after the Court of Appeal upheld the decision of the First Instance that sentenced him to 2 years in prison for election corruption.

In this way, Beleri cannot take the mandate won in the May 14 elections.

He will remain behind bars in Fier prison until October, already as a person convicted by a final decision, while there will be new elections in Himare.

Today's decision also prevents Beleri from exercising his duties normally as a member of the European Parliament of the Greek party "New Democracy", since he will not be able to go to Strasbourg in July to take the oath.

A few hours after the decision of the Appeal was announced, Beleri reacted from the cell accusing Prime Minister Edi Rama of having planned the coup at every step, as he described the methods used against him.

"A parody of justice", Beleri calls the final decision of the Albanian justice for him, announcing that he has started the procedures for the appeal to the European Court of Justice in Strasbourg.

"The decision of the Court of Appeal was expected, since the coup against me was planned at every step by the Albanian Prime Minister himself. The appeal does not end there. I have already started the appeal procedures at the European Court of Justice in Strasbourg and I am sure that the justice that was not given by the Rama regime will be given to us there. Unfortunately for him and fortunately for Northern Hellenism, my presence in the European Parliament - thanks to the determination of Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the support of the Greek people - guarantees that the fight for democracy and the rule of law will continue," he says.

At the same time, he described the Albanian prime minister as an authoritarian leader, emphasizing that "those who harbored illusions that Rama will act as the leader of a country that wants to become a member of the European family were rejected".

"As far as I am concerned, my position is clear. As I did not give up in the last 14 months, I will not give up now, in the remaining 3-4 months. Edi Rama will have the problem from now on, not me. In the end, light always wins over darkness", concludes Beleri.
