Lulzim Basha is in Strasbourg to participate in the session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

In an interview for the show "Breaking" on Top News from there, the head of the Euro-Atlantic Democrats spoke about the latest developments in the international camp, in particular about the need to end the Russian aggression in Ukraine, adding that what is happening in Eastern Europe is an alarm bell for our region as well, as was the case of the attack in Banjska.

He added that the CoE is discussing the advancement of sanctions against Russia, for which Basha holds the position of rapporteur for the confiscation of Russian assets, whose resolution received unanimous support a few months ago.

" I am in Strasbourg, as the regular session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe is taking place. So, I am at the Council of Europe where important decisions will be made. Today and tomorrow the decision will be made on who will lead the Council of Europe in the next 5 years. Parliamentary groups are having their last meetings before the decision-making, before the vote. It is also being discussed about advancing the measures, sanctions against Russia for the illegal aggression in Ukraine. As well as for the establishment of institutions that will deal with the investigation of war crimes.

The war has entered a dangerous phase, because after years, when they say to us "People get used to evil". This is not true for Ukrainians, but it is true for a number of institutions, representatives who, although they repeat unconditional support for Ukraine, do not have the same urgency as they did 2 years ago.

And we also noticed this in the slowing down of measures in support of Ukraine. So our main role is not just to support a country under aggression, as we should as a country in the Council of Europe, but to remind all representatives and member countries, there are 46 member countries here in the Council of Europe, that what is happening in Ukraine is not far from what happened to us.

What we need to do is stop and end Russian aggression with the only outcome being defeat for the aggressor. Because any other conclusion would seem like a good thing at the moment.

But if it were a total defeat for the aggressor, it would be a dangerous precedent for our region, where, as you know, Russia's satellites have revealed territorial ambitions. Even for Serbia, they have unveiled an agenda contrary to the agenda of the EU and the USA. I refer here to what happened a few weeks ago in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the official disclosure of the Serbian world, of the intentions to divide the Republika Srpska, the terrorist attack financed by Belgrade in Banjska, of the tentacles to influence the policies of a sovereign state "- said Basha.
