As predicted, Edi Paloka is the chairman of the National Council of the Democratic Party.
Edi Paloka received 132 votes, while Eleina Qirici received 79 votes. A total of 211 voters took part.
Edi Paloka was earlier the head of the National Council until the moment when he was fired by Lulzim Basha at the time when the clash with Berisha started, while Eleina Qiriçi was a PD deputy in the Korça Region during the 2013-2017 legislature.
Earlier, members of the National Council unanimously adopted a resolution on the election of the President of the Republic, mandating the Re-establishment Commission to appoint representatives to find a common position with other political parties.
Oerd Bylykbashi stressed that the DP will not become part of Edi Rama's farce, but if the conditions for consensus are created, the DP representatives and allied parties will work to find joint candidacies.
"Any alternative that enables the election of the President with the votes of the SP, or a real political consensus, will be rejected by a vote in the Assembly. The PD parliamentary group ensures the implementation of the PD political stance, defined in this resolution. "Contrary to this binding resolution and the representative political rights deriving from the decisions of the representative bodies of the Democratic Party, do not represent the Democratic Party in the process of electing the President", it is stated in the resolution of the Democratic Party.
