After the recent events in Kosovo, the National Book and Reading Center has canceled the scheduled meeting to be held today, of the Serbian writer and journalist Ivona Djuric. The latter is located in Tirana as a resident of the READ project, in partnership with the Book and Promotion Institute.
Today, Djuric would be in a meeting with cultural journalists and readers on the role of the media in new social and cultural contexts, and the influence it has on the young generation, her experience in Tirana, and contemporary Balkan literature. The National Book Center in Tirana, directed by Alda Bardhyli, has done a good job in opening the book towards regional cooperation, but also encouraging a debate about open societies.
Important authors of Balkan literature have been part of the discussions in this space of the Albanian book, seeing the culture and the book as part of the processes that seek to integrate the neighbors with each other. The cancellation of the meeting with the Serbian journalist comes after the events in Kosovo.
