SHOCKING VIDEO/ Three young people hug each other before being swept away by the

Three friends were seen hugging each other just seconds before they were swept away by floods in Italy.

The footage shows Patrizia Cormos, 20, her friend Bianca Doros, 23, and her boyfriend Cristian Molnar, 25, standing in the fast-flowing river along the Natisone River in Friuli. Water levels began to rise after days of heavy rain, leaving the group stranded on a small pebble island. They hugged each other while the fire chief threw them a rope.

Unfortunately the trio were "swallowed by the floodwaters" and firefighters saw them disappear. Two bodies, believed to be Cormos and Doros, were discovered 1km from where they were seen clutching each other. Rescue teams are still searching for Molnar. The friends had driven to Premariacco beach near Udine and walked down to the river.

Doras and Molnar, both Romanians, were visiting family in Italy. Cormas had asked her mother to go on the trip after finishing her exams at the Academy of Fine Arts in Udine. A firefighter shouted to the group from a nearby bridge: Stand together, gather together, hug each other. He can then be heard saying: 'Oh no – oh my god.'

A handbag with the mobile phone that made the SOS emergency call was found. Mayor Michele De Sebata expressed his condolences to the trio who were trapped in an 'unpredictable situation'. He said that "the three children arrived when it was sunny, they could not have known what was going to happen". He explained that the river can change quickly and 'it only took minutes' for the tragedy to happen.
